Omuro school of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism Asahisan Shinshoin Temple
Asahisan is said to have been founded in Kanpyo 8 (896) by the monk Kangen, the Chief Priest of Ominokuni Ishiyama Temple. At that time, it was known as "Asahisan Shoganji Senkoin". The present "Asahisan Shinshoin" was established in Meiji 2 (1899) through the merger of three temples. These were Senkoin, which stood on the summit of Mount Asahi, Shinzenbo (founded in Kanpyo 8, 896),which was located nearby in Negi and Henjoji, which was also located in Negi(whose founding date is unknown). The temple’s name "Shinshoin" was formed by taking one character each from the names of the three merged temples,"Shin" (真) from Shinzenbo, "Sho" (照) from Henjoji, and "In" (院) from Senkoin.
